WG1: Functional genomics of plant parasitic nematodes.
The main objective of this Working Group will be to co-ordinate the development and application of tools for functional analysis of nematode genes. Development of RNA interference and microarrays for plant parasitic nematodes will be priorities for this work area. For more information see the MoU

WG2: Comparative genomics of plant parasitic nematodes
The main objective of this Working Group will be to exploit the potential added value offered by use of comparative genomics as genomic information for nematodes accumulates. This WG will coordinate efforts in genome annotation in order to ensure that genome sequences are accessible to the community that aims to use them and will encourage comparative genomics of different plant parasitic nematodes as well as comparisons of plant parasitic nematodes with other plant pathogens and other (animal parasitic and free-living) nematodes. Work using established model systems such as C. elegans and Arabidopsis thaliana will also fall into this WG.

WG3: Functional genomics of plant responses
The main objectives of this Working Group will be analysis of the host response to nematode infection using genomics tools and the development of novel screens for germplasm carrying resistance loci using nematode avirulence effectors. This work area will exploit microarrays for studies of plant-nematode interactions in the susceptible and resistant interaction and will coordinate efforts to identify nematode proteins that are recognised by resistant plants (avirulence effectors).
